A Couple Sneak Peeks & Some Great News!!

First, is my sneak peek of one of the cards we will be making at my February Card Classes, this Thursday & Friday. I am showcasing My Mind's Eye: Hazel 6 x 6 Paper Pad this month! For this card, I used two sets from Unity: Generations & Follow Your Heart. I made the background using scraps from various pages from the paper pad.

This weekend I have been busy designing my cards for my Creative Therapy February class. I am designing my cards with a yummy palette of 6 x 6 papers, My Minds Eye: Stella Rose-Hazel. I could not resist using it on this card as well.

Does anyone feel like a Martini?

When I seen this image I had to have it. It reminds me of my dog Bradie, when he had to wear a cone, it was hard not to laugh at him while inside my heart was breaking. It made him so sad. I totally understand the need for a cone...but really? The poor guy could not see where to walk and ran into the walls. Me being the mama I am, I caved and took it off. He stopped biting and chewing at his sore. Smart boy.

Well, I am not a martini girl--I am more of a wine girl. Some days the best part of the day is relaxing after work with my hunnie with a glass of wine. I love you peep.

Christine's Coloring Challenge! Day Four.

Yesterday, I promised to show you how I do layouts--well, here is my photo! Yup, that is it!

Honestly, I hardly ever use layouts. I rarely ever have a card idea printed to copy. My ideas are in my head or I just wing-it. I don't spend a lot of time on layouts.

A lot of my layouts are the same, which I am totally fine with. I prefer to spend more time finding images I love and coloring them. Sometimes, I use bling or embellies, sometimes I don't. I LOVE ribbon and I LOVE pearls, esp. silver ones.

Your assignment today is to leave a comment, telling me your favorite bling or embellishment! Mine is Silver Pearls!

This might come as a shock to some of you. I am a messy crafter, my OCD does not care if my space is messy either. Do you see the adorable Mabelle Christmas Card I made? It never made it to my blog--oops! The scraps I used are leftovers from that card.

Just for the record, I do have a desk I could work at that is much nicer, but for some reason I end up on my tables I use for my classes. These photos are mild compared to how bad it usually looks--I cleaned up my garbage before I took the photos.

Do you see my pink gun? A VERY good friend of mine gave that to me as a gift--I did not think I would like it, but it's my FAVORITE tool in my stamp room now. Thanks Julie!

You can make a card, a poster, or you can alter something--basically I don't care what you make for your project as long as you have a colored image on it. You DO NOT have to use copics, you can use anything you want to use to color.

2) If you use a Mabelle RO Whimsy & Stars Studio digital, you will be entered twice in the random drawing.

3) Bonus, post my challenge on your blog or facebook to get your name entered a third time.

Christine's Coloring Challenge! Day Three.

Today, I will finish coloring my image...but before I do, I need to pick out my color palette. Up until now, I always colored first then found papers to match. Since its a new year, I thought I would so something different.

It was not hard for me to decided on my palette, because I just happened to have scraps on my table sitting right in front of me. My BFF, Trish would be VERY proud of me for using scraps and not cutting into a brand new piece of card stock. The patterned papers are from a 6 x 6 paper pad from My Mind's Eye, called Happy GO Lucky. {Fun colors}

If you have known me for any amount of time, or followed my blog, you already know I have a clean & simple style more often than not. As you can see I started with B05 & RV14. For the rest of my tutorial, I am only using one color per detail. I find there is no need to always color with lots of detail. Plus, I wanted the focus to be on their adorable, cute, golden-brown faces.

Next, I used B00 for the pants, I {love} coloring pants {not sure why, but I do}. I just put down color where I wanted it to be the darkest, then I blended it with my colorless blender pen 0 {aka my boo boo pen}! I also like to leave white space, to make the pants look worn and more realistic.

Here, I colored the headband with RV19 & also the middle strip in her leggings. I added some shadowing {a second layer of RV19} on her headband & I left just a tiny spot of white. Why, I am not sure, maybe it's my unconscious mind telling me it does not need to be perfect.

Again, I am using only one color in each shade...I colored the boys shoes with E15 and added a shadow {with a second layer of E15} on the boy's shoes to give them dimension. I used E15 on the girls shoes also & N4 for the strap and the bottom of the boys shoe.

T7 for their noses & R51 for the inside of the ears.

Then to finish it off, I used B00 and the colorless blender pen on his hat!

I think they turned out pretty good if I do say so myself! What do you think? Sure, I could have really went all out and colored more, like the mittens, but why? Instead I like to keep it simple!

Well, tomorrow I will share how I do a layout...well, I will sort of show you. Smiles. I will also announce my challenge, the rules & the blog candy giveaway!

Christine's Coloring Challenge! Day Two.

Step One: I colored the fur quickly with one layer of ink!

Disclosure: I am going to teach very basic coloring skills with my Copics. I am NOT a certified instructor, just a simple small town girl, coloring with Copics. If I can do this, anyone can!

First, I started by coloring the fur on the bears. I have a very limited supply of browns. I wanted to make them golden in color. So by using only two markers, {not even close in numbers or in the same color family}, I created a beautiful golden brown using E15 and YR24. I took a class on Copics, but don't ask me what the E or the YR stand for. ;o)

Step Two: I added a second layer of E15 around the edges to create a shadow and some dimension. See, I told you anyone can do this!

Don't forgot those adorable ears!

Step Three: Color it all in with YR24.

{Don't overdo the edges so the shadow and dimension still are still there}.

That's it!

Your assignment today, is to find an image you want to color {rubber-stamped, digital image printed from your computer, or something from a coloring book, anything will work}. Then, decide what color medium you will use {copics, prisma's, watercolors, crayons, to name a few}. Post your coloring medium as a comment below. Christine's Coloring Challenge! Day One.

The other night, a thought crossed my mind to do a simple Copic Tutorial on my blog. I had a lot of thoughts running through my brain--but when I sat down to do it, my brain could not put it all on paper! I don't know about any of you--but I will have a vision for a card in my car, driving down the road, but when I sit down to do it, my brain goes to mush!

I decided to roll with it, and this is what I came up with.

With the increased prices of Copics, I know that my hobby and love for Copics has to be approached with caution. You, know--the live within your means thing we learned about in high school? Well, I have about 60 maybe a couple more Copics. That is a VERY small collection in comparison to how many there are. Honestly, I have no clue how many colors they have and don't want to know. I am so glad that I am not the type that has to have every one of everything there is. Smiles.

I started by finding an image that I wanted to color so that I could take photos of the steps I took to create, {my masterpiece}.

Well, it was not hard to find an image--I love digital images, and my all time favorite digital line is Mabelle RO- Whimsy & Stars Studio. {and not just because I am on the current design team}--but because her images are so fun to color. There is something about being in my FORTIES and coloring like I did when I was a little girl.

Meet Mr. Koltyn Pennington!

Well, it's never a dull moment in our home. We have had two puppies in the last week. The first little guy, Rusty {a 5 year old Chihuahua}, a gift for our 10 year old for Christmas, had to go back to the previous owner. Rusty only liked my hubs.

Well, today, we got a new puppy, {a black Poochon}--Poodle and Bichon mix. Jessie has named him Koltyn {because he is black like coal}.

I am looking forward to documenting his life in a scrapbook. So far, he has been here for almost 5 hours and he has yet to go potty, we could be in for a long night. He has only gone on newspaper so it could be a challenge. Please pray for us. Smiles.

Here is a picture of Rusty on Christmas Eve. His owner needs to go into assisted living soon. I pray they find a home for him with no children so he can be hugged, loved and not so scared. After spending one week with him we fell in love with him, how could you not, look at how cute he is.

Hold those resolutions!

Instead of aiming for the impossible, celebrate the New Year with the things you really love but don't do enough.

I plan to cuddle and read more with my baby girl, time is going way too fast, before I know it she will be all grown up.

I plan to read my bible more.

I plan to worry less about what others think of me, and stay true to myself along the way.

I plan to sit outside on warm summer nights with my baby girl and the love of my life around a bonfire, gazing at the stars.

I plan to laugh more. Cry less.

I plan to drink wine with friends. There is something special about wine, laughter and girlfriends.

More than anything, I plan to always be thankful for each and everyday I wake up, thanking God for giving me another day of life. After all, every day we breathe is a blessing from above.

So what will you do that you really love to do but don't do it enough?

{TAC}5: Finale & a trip down Memory Lane!

Today, is our Design team's final post. Now that The Angel Company images were bought by Pam Upper {a former TAC angel}, they will again be available for purchase. The purpose for our design team was to keep TAC images inked and in use since they were no longer available. I would like to thank the design team and our followers--it was a lot of fun while it lasted. I would also like to wish Pam great success with Red Rubber Designs.

Now for a trip down memory lane. I picked 4 of my favorite TAC cards from 2011 to do a mini trip down Memory Lane. {not in any particular order}.

Mabelle RO: Winter Friends

Have you ever made a card that is so pretty in person, but you can't seem to capture the same beauty with a photo? Why do the colors look nothing like they do in person? I wish I could buy a new camera--my little, Sony digital camera sure has seen better days. {Sad face}. Well, enough about me and my camera complaints...lets talk about how adorable this image is! I just love her and the reindeer is super cute too. Thanks Mabelle for another fun image!

I really wanted to capture simplicity this time. I recently read some comments on a blog about how some stampers are getting frustrated because stamping has gotten so {complicated}. Some are frustrated with their lack of coloring skills--others feel that the cards are getting too over the top. The conversation mostly implied that they want the trends to go back to simple, basic card-making. Many shared they can't keep up with all the latest trends, tools, techniques etc. One lady commented that she does not have time to sew a button on a shirt let alone sew layers of cardstock to a card, {giggle}. I have to agree with her too. Anyhow, here I am with a very simple- two layered, non 3-D, basic-colored card with no embellishments.

Here is another TAC card! I was going to post it yesterday too, but forgot.

I totally love this set, Ever So Thankful. It will be used for years and years to come!

I stamped the image on glossy card stock, brayered it with a multi-colored ink pad from Inkadinkado, then finished it off with Goosebumps Spray. I love how this card turned out and how it came together so beautifully.

Oh my word! I did not think this day would ever come. Today, is our first debut as a newly organized {TAC} Design Team. Our goal is to keep TAC alive. We want to keep TAC's images inked, front and center, and in your stamp collections for years to come! Over the years, TAC has had some of the most amazing rubber stamps in the market. Our designers not only were former angels with the company, they were and still are very passionate about representing a wonderful company. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

For my card, I used one of my favorite stamps ever designed by Mabelle R.O. I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I seen it, why you ask? I live in southern AZ but my heart lives in WY as I call that state my home of preference (lived there for MANY years and plan to go back someday, if possible).

My favorite TAC sets today: well, it's hard to narrow that down to 3. I think Hiero Horses will top the list. I had a horse for 22 years that I raised from a foal and trained myself so that set really spoke to me. Next is Good Timber as it reminds me of the great northwestern part of WY where we lived just 70 miles west of the East Gate of Yellowstone Park. Last, but not least, is Blossoms & Blessings. My road traveled: August 15, 2005 I signed up to be a demonstrator with The Angel Company. Once I discovered TAC I was immediately hooked! TAC promoted God first, family second and work third! The variety of images, compact storage and NO restrictions contributed to my love for the company; not to mention the great hostess and customer benefits.

Stamping is a HUGE part of my life! It is my mental, emotional and spiritual therapy. It allows me to be creative & to express myself through the art of rubber stamping. I love spending time with my friends so I will continue to do monthly workshops and quarterly shoebox swaps. I love seeing what my friends are able to create. It's fun watching them grow and it's fun to see them laughing, smiling & enjoying themselves. TAC may have come to a dead end road--but this girl will take the path less traveled and keep going by sharing what I love to do--teaching the Art of Rubber Stamping!

I want to go public with my intentions for my part-time gig!

The Angel Company may have closed it's doors--but it does not mean the doors have to close for me! I have every intention of continuing to teach, share and create art with rubber stamps!

TAC has closed it's doors. What a sad time for all of us.

TAC came into my life at the perfect time, August 2005. It saved my life. It taught me how to love life again. At the time, I was going thorough some very difficult times.

TAC taught me to believe in myself. TAC molded me into the creative artist I am. TAC gave me many incredible memories. My favorite was being on the Dream Team--what an honor it has been to work amongst some incredibly talented artists.

I have made MANY friends through TAC. Some will stay, some will move on and some have already left. Life sure has it's up and downs!

It is time for me to close another chapter of my life to see what God has for me next.

Stamping is and has been my therapy-- that won't change.

I must admit I struggled with this set---all I could think of is using fall colors. I was having a hard time going 'there'--when it's been 80-90 degrees lately. I thought I had a card that I liked, sent it to Mischelle, but soon emailed her back to say---I hate it!

I recently was 'dared' that I could not do a CAS (Clean & Simple) card--no coloring, no layering, no frills. So back to my stamping room I went! Well, by changing my color palette and focusing on Simple. Smart. Sophisticated.™, I did it! {smiles} I think we often feel like we need to put a ton of time into a card to make it beautiful, well, in my opinion I captured beauty. I was ready to quit, but instead I BELIEVED in myself and conquered it. {smiles}

Believe in yourself, I just did!

Directions, lets see if I can explain, I am a better teacher visually. {smiles}

How I made the 3D balloon:

Step One: stamp the top of the balloon and a basket on your base.
Step Two: mask the balloon lines on your image and stamp 5 of them.
Step Three: color and cut out shapes-- I used a nestie.
Step Four: score and fold each balloon in half--then glue them on the back, back to back--don't glue the last two half's together so you can lay it flat on top of your stamped image from step one.

Here is the last of the cards I will share of the cards I submitted for the new catalog! I just love this set Boys will be Boys! I fell in love with them immediately! I don't know about you, but the little guy in his tighty whites just makes me smile.

Next up was another one of my favorite cards, I tried to capture Linus from The Peanuts. I made a dusting behind him and made his face dirty. This card is actually very cute in person. I was sad to not see this card or my Hello Day card in the catalog---oh well, it was fun trying!

Okay, as promised I am humoring you all with some more of my Catalog rejects! LOL First of all, I apologize for the HORRIBLE photos. I had to crop them just to make them look halfway decent. I would have taken new photos of these, but I gave away two of them at seminar. In fact, I made Avis Anderson cry. {I felt bad} Earlier that day, she commented on how much she loved my cards and asked me to teach her how to color hedgehogs. When TAC returned them to me, I did not think twice about giving them to Avis! I am putting together a step by step "tutorial" just for Avis. {smiles}

and LAST but not least for today's post {trust me I have more rejects for another time}, lucky you, huh?

Technique Blog Hop: SpotLIGHTing!

We are blog hopping today...the theme is spotlighting! I used a new, one of my favorite sets {again}, Relax & Fish! I also used Vintage Backgrounds & a sentiment from Sunshine & Joy.

I decided to change things up a bit and do the opposite of spotlighting {reverse spotlighting}. Usually you color the spotlighted area {the circle}. I thought I would be different! {smiles}

Card Submission: Hello Day!

I was so excited to be asked to submit cards for the new catalog. I was especially excited when I was asked to design something with Hello Day. Due to time constraints, I was only able to make 8 cards to send in. When I received the email, I was told they needed them yesterday! {JK, but they needed them mailed out in a few days} To be honest, my favorite card of all of them, did not make it to the catalog...and you are looking at her! {insert sad face}

If you look closely, you will see that I paper pieced most of it. The purse {my favorite} was colored with my Copics using the cross-hatching technique and hand-drawn bitty flowers. I think she is so cute! Oh, and notice I did not include the cat? Oops!

I am so blessed that one of my cards made it in the catalog. It's funny though, because it's one of the cards I disliked the most. If you have not seen it check out page 85 of our newly released catalog! I will post another reject in a few days, LOL!

What a fun set indeed! As soon as I seen it, I knew I would have lots of fun with it. My hubs is very patriotic so it will come in handy. It is one of our Level A Reward sets {you can earn it for free, ask me how!}

As many of you know, I just returned from our annual seminar in Wichita, Kansas! It was my favorite seminar so far. I got to meet lots of new people and re-unite with others. There are so many reasons to go! Here is just a small list:

We received 22 sets total {21 at seminar, 1 prior to seminar}. We received ALL 8 Level A Reward stamp sets.
We attended classes taught by our peers, our Dream Teamsters! I learned so much.
There is so much laughter, hugs, and getting to know one another!
There is no bed time! LOL

I share, there is no bed time, because the last night of seminar, many of us gathered in the lobby to color. My friend Chelsea Comer taught mini Copic coloring classes. I had fun watching. My other friend, Teresa Jenkins, who I met for the first time in person colored the image on my card. I loved it so much I asked if I could add it to my card design for today's challenge. She said I did not have to tell anyone she colored it...now as much as I would like to take the credit, I just can't! I watched Teresa carefully choose the colors. She is amazing to watch. I even watched her do the tip to tip technique! Anyhow, I added the blue sky layer and then designed from there! Thank you Teresa for our fun evening/early morning adventure...I can't wait to do it again!

My Boy!

I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally ink up this stamp! Did you know TAC designed it just for me? Tee hee, JK I can pretend!! This is Mr. Riley, also known as Ry-man & Atta. I had to do some surgery on my stamp because our little guy does not have a tail, his is docked. Riley is actually lighter in color, I need to practice more and try with other colors.

Easter Basket Bonanza Blog Hop!

Hello, I'm back with my blog hop post! I just love this bunny, it is from one of the Spring Fling sets available until May 2nd. Click here for the rest of the set and other sets available during Spring Fling.

Next up is a fun Origami Easter Basket I made using a 6 x 6 piece of cardstock & a strip 1/2" x 7"! I would love to wake up Easter morning to find some fun button embellishes in my basket. Who needs chocolate anyway?

For my last project, is another version of a basket I made last fall. My friend Julie and I went to Kansas for Mischelle's Copic Coloring classes and found this fun idea at a scrapbooking store we stopped at in Iowa. I loved making it with Maggie cardstock!

Well, there you have it. Hope this inspires you to make some fun goodies for Easter too.

If you would have asked me last year at this time if I would want to apply for a Copic design team, I would have said, {Are ya crazy}? You see I bought my first set of Copics, that sat in a box for several weeks, before I opened them and actually used them. {Sad, but true}. My first few times trying them out, I hated them. In fact, I said I was going to give them away! Several of my friends said, don't give up, and I bet you will love them in a short amount of time. Well, it took me several tries and many months before I actually started to like them. I could not understand what was so special about them. Well, I ended up taking back my words, once I actually learned how to use them. You see, I was trying to get beautiful shading by using one marker and layering and layering and layering. My images were a mess! My paper was saturated and falling apart. I knew I must have been doing something wrong so I hit the computer and search for tutorials...boy did I giggle when I seen how to really use them. So now I use at minimum 2 shades of the color I am using, but most of the time, I use 3 shades to color to get the results I am looking for.

Last fall, I traveled to Kansas with a friend and took some wonderful Copic coloring classes from Mischelle Smith, CEO of The Angel Company. Since that weekend I have not put down my Copics when stamping. The ending of my story is...I ♥ Copics! Someday I hope to have many more in my collection. I only have about 60! If asked what level I would assign myself as is A Beginer, still learning! {smiles}

So here is the card I designed for the DT call..the only requirement was Pink! I knew right away what image I wanted to color...every girl should be able to own a pink truck if she wants to right? LOL

Who doesn’t love a good treasure hunt … combine that with a card challenge and watch the rainbow appear!

To play along cardmakers MUST use each of the items in the Pot of Gold, on

Going Green Challenge

I sure had loads of fun with all my crap I tend to hoard! I have a sickness, I look at every empty container, box, scrap, etc wondering if I can make a card with it. I have a box full of goodies just waiting to be re-cycled, re-purposed, re-used and/or re-designed! Today I asked my coworkers to save their silver cupcake liners...I know I am a crazy nut at times! {Big smile!}

I have to be honest this card is a really beautiful card IRL, the photo does not do justice. I added a flower I made from a re-cycled Panera bag that I received when I recently bought some bagels for work. The black strip is a strip of scrap cardstock that I pleated using my Scor-pal! Stamp set: Hope Perches {Hostess Level B Set}. Copic Colors: B00,B02, E59, G82, G94, YR24.

Seeing Shamrocks Blog Hop

Guess What? It is time for another TAC Blog Hop! Today's Challenge is Seeing Shamrocks! I had to really think outside the box on this one. I don't have any St. Patty's Day stamp set, so I had to be creative. Because I am not Irish I don't get into the good luck stuff. I put all my "luck" into my father, Jesus Christ!

So to honor the Irish, I googled the word love in Irish..and found it is Gra'....so today I send my love to all my Irish friends and family {hubs has some Irish in him}. For me I don't get into the green beer, but I do love the Shamrock Shakes at Mc'D's {smiles}.

So do you want to know how I made a Shamrock? It was so simple and almost embarrassing to show how easy it is. LOL

First, I punched a flower from the Marvy flower punch, the blue one! I punched a hole in the middle with my crop-a-dile and then drew {black lines for the photo}, it is best to use pencil so you can erase the line.

Next I cut out three hearts:

I trimmed the hearts a bit to get rid of the divits from the crop-a-dile hole I punched.

Last, I glued down parts of the hearts to give it a 3-D effect. So what do you think? Simple huh? I thought so too. {smiles}

Retiform Blog Hop

It is blog hopping time again...this time it is doing a technique called Retiform. I really struggled with this one because sponging is hard for me. I am always adding too much ink and I get blobs and globs. OMGosh, I am so in love with this card. Month's ago I totally did not like this stamp set and told my boss, "I don't get this set at all"! When I looked at it all I could see is shapes...one that comes to my mind is {olives}. I made the comment I wish someone would make something with it so I could see how to use it...well, yesterday and today my wish came true! Mischelle, CEO and owner of TAC designed some really sweet cards, so sweet that I am placing an order just so I can get this set! {smiles}

More January Workshop Cards!

First up today is a very simple but elegant card. The ♥ is made by punching three hearts, scoring them in the middle and gluing them together to create a 3-D effect. Stamp set used: Filled with Joy! Click HERE to see the full set. {Sorry for the fuzzy photo}!

Next up is a fun card. I actually learned how to color this image and learned a fun technique last October when I went to Copic Caboodle Classes w/Mischelle Smith, CEO of The Angel Company. I am still practicing so someday I can color magically like her. I absolutely fell in love with this set the moment I seen it in the catalog. I love the simplicity, but most of all the scripture! Last, but certainly not least...is a card I designed for my TAC hostess Chicks only. Disclaimer: the photo does not do justice to how awesome this card is in person. 1) I am an only child, which makes me the oldest, so I like to be in charge!
2) I love the Green Bay Packers, even when they lose!

What a Wonderful Surprise!

I have not entered TAC's contests for many months--I decided to give it a try again. I am so excited about the newest category---Pretty Place Settings! I knew right away what I was going to make. Here is a link to the post on TAC's home page. Make sure you check out all the other fabulous projects!

Because my computer crashed and it's in the shop I am using TAC's photos. {Thanks, TAC} I bought a new computer, it was long overdue, hoping my computer guy can retrieve my files off my old computer.

First up is a photo of the place setting---the "silver"ware is actually plastic ware that I found at Wallmart. You can't see it very well but there is a Christmas tree ornament snowflake in the floral piece.

Next, is a photo of a treat box. There are mini altoids inside. To make the scallop I used a Nestie's die and put one end through the die so it only cut the edge. I carefully added a brad to the middle of the gem--it did crack a little but not enough to notice.

My inspiration for the project was the color combo I used. I colored all my images w/my copics! Inside the jar is candy--which I hope the TAC staff eats so the mice don't eat it. I would hate to see dove milk chocolate (my favorite) go to waste.

Next, is a gift card holder! Who would not love to receive a gift card when they sat down to this beautiful place setting?

And last, my favorite piece. A stand alone place card! Super simple to make!

Today is the first day I actually felt good since my surgery last Monday. The card I posted earlier was started awhile back and finished last night. This card was started and finished this evening.

I just love this set from The Greeting Farm--I bought it last summer because I fell in love with the bibs she is wearing. I have a lot of practicing to still do with my copic skills. Someday I want to be as good as Mischelle Smith and Debra Miller. {smiles}

The sentiment Noble Notes {a must have} and all the Cardstock is from TAC--after TAC is where my ♥ is!
